Abstract
In order to investigate the effect of amsa, Wonjamah, Paikgangjam, Sosa I and Sosa II on the diabetic rats induced by alloxan, the levels of serum glucose, glulose tolerance and insulin, urine volume, urine electrolytes, body weights and water
intakes
were measured.
@ES The following results were obtained
@EN 1. The five groups administrated Bombyx Mori L. added the body weight more faster than the alloxan control group, and the group administrated jamsa and Wonjamah of those showed the most effect on weight-gain.
2. The five groups administrated Bombyx Mori L. Showed the slight decreases on urine volume, but did not show the significant differences on water intakes according to alloxan control group.
3. The five groups administrated Bombyx Mori L. did not show the significant differences on excretion of electrolytes, but the group administrated Sosa II showed a significant decrease on Excretion of creatinine.
4. The group administrated 300mg/kg Jamsa and 300mg/kg Wonjamah, showed the effective decrease to the elevated level of serum glucose according to the alloxan control group and other groups.
5. The group administrated 500mg/kg Jamsa showed the glucose intolerance effect on OGTT without a significance. According to the alloxan control group and other groups.
6. The group andministrated 300mg/kg Jamsa and 300mg/kg Wonjamah showed the high significance on the level of serum glucose, according to the normal and alloxan control groups. Specially, the group administated jamsa had and content of serum
insulin
more than the group administrated chlorpropamide.
According to the above results, as the effect of Jamsa and Wonijamah on Diabetes mellitus reorded in literatures are almost the same as that of the prescription obtained by experimental rats, Diabetic the single and combined prescriptions are
applicable
to mellitus and the following research of antidiabetic effect on oriental medicine will be expected.
